A warrior out to exact revenge on Ronan for killing his family. Regarding his ability to identify with the character, Bautista remarked, “I can just relate to Drax in such a humorous way. We only share a few basic things in common. Simple things like the tragedy—because, you know, I too experienced some tragedy in my life—and the tattoos. So I can draw a lot from that fairly easily. A lot of comic relief was present in Drax, but the character was unaware of it, according to Bautista. Due to his lifetime of athletic endeavours and his ability to adapt quickly, Bautista claimed that he did not need to put much effort into his preparation for the part.
